A Short History To Correct The Lie

Thankfully, most moms and dads don't suddenly find themselves removed from the lives of their children, as I was. Together with her family in South Carolina, Catherine Walker, my former wife, successfully hid our daughters from me for 15 years. It began in 1977 when I moved to Schererville, Indiana, from upstate New York, with my daughter Theresa and my son Mark. Theresa was 13, Mark was 9 and I was their custodial father. The purpose of our move was for me to attend college. It was here that I met Catherine Tucker Harwood Walker, (a.k.a. Pamela Johnson, a.k.a. Lyn Johnson). I was an unattached single parent. Although Catherine had previously dated Stephen Walker, she was at the time unattached.. Catherine and I attended a large church in Hammond, Indiana. We had both sought the pastor's advice in finding a mate. The pastor suggested that I date Catherine, which I did and in May 1978 we were married. Catherine and I had two children. Rebekah, born in 1981 and Elizabeth, born in 1984. I worked as an electrician and Catherine was a stay at home mom. I had no idea that Catherine continued to have contact with Stephen Walker, in fact, he and I worked at the same place and I considered him a friend. Soon after our second daughter, Elizabeth, was born, Catherine became seriously involved with Walker and I became an obstacle to their future. The crusade to remove me from all aspects of theirs and my daughter's lives began. Catherine maliciously and calculatedly fabricated whatever lies she felt would be most effective in getting me out of the way. It started with writing my family and telling my friends that  I was a homosexual and child abuser. I am not now, nor have I ever been an abuser of any kind nor a homosexual. For Catherine, these accusations covered the two areas she thought necessary to rid herself and her new lover of the only thing that stood in their way, ME! By accusing me of being a homosexual, she had established a reason not to stay married to me. By accusing me of being a child abuser, she had, what she considered, an excuse to keep me from my children. She told everyone that she had to protect them.  How pathetically convenient. A couple of simple fabrications and she and her new lover could be rid of me. In her perverse, manipulative mind, she assumed she could justify her extramarital affair with Walker by becoming the victim of a bad marriage. She was not! Plain and simple, she had an affair and fell in love with another man.

Eventually, Catherine and I divorced. She married Walker and they lived in our house, that I continued to pay for.  I was awarded the typical weekend visitation by the court in Indiana. I was faithful to every visitation, although Catherine managed to thwart many of them. Claiming hardship, Catherine petitioned the Indiana court to allow her to relocate to Dallas, Texas. She told the court she would have guaranteed employment with her mother, Margie Tucker, in Dallas. The court granted her request to relocate, which she did. In truth, there was no job with her mother and Catherine did not relocate to Dallas, as she had requested. Rather, she moved to a little out of the way town called East Mountain, Texas, in Upshur County. She continued to interfere with my court ordered visitation and it was there, in Upshur County, that the court recognized her as the calculated liar she is. Her heartless game with the lives of my two little girls was, to her surprise, finally being challenged. It was there, in Upshur County, that the court granted me custody of Rebekah and Elizabeth. It was there that Catherine and her husband, Stephen Walker, quietly disappeared with my children and a felony warrant for Catherine's arrest was issued.. It was there, 15 years ago, that I began my search for my little girls. Private investigators, pictures on milk cartons and post office walls, thousands of miles traveled, countless hours of research and 15 years later, we were finally reunited in February 2003.

We now know that Catherine ran from the jurisdiction of the Texas court to the area around Central, South Carolina, where her sister, Tandy Collier, lives. There she would have people willing to help her perpetrate her pathetic crime. Although Catherine's family denies their participation in helping her hide, the facts indicate otherwise. (See page 3 of the Investigator's Report) They all shared the same address. Catherine fabricated the lie. Her family supported it.

In August 2003,Catherine was arrested in Blythe, California and extradited to Gilmer, Texas where she was convicted of interference with child custody, a felony, and served 90 days in the Upshur County jail in Gilmer, Texas. Upon release, she returned to the Blythe area. Although she signed the Texas court documents as Cathy Walker, she continues to use the name Lyn Johnson. She becomes whomever she pleases as it fits her need.

A happy ending to a tragic story? You decide. The years without my daughters can never be replaced. Catherine stole 15 years and it cost her 90 days. Even though Catherine Walker will always wear the title "convicted felon", the multiple identities she hides behind will not. Perhaps we can conclude, she and her family got away with it. Shame on all of them.

Update

As of February 2011, Catherine (Lyn Vande Brake) lives in Alton, Iowa and claims to be married for the fifth time.  She has written a fantasy essay called, "The Run", using yet another alias, Lyn Jacobson, which she calls, "a pen name for this book only". Her writing depicts events in her life as she wishes they had happened, so she could justify her crime. She's a criminal. A convicted felon. She was incarcerated and is currently on probatoion for her crime. There is no justification. She broke the law. Catherine continues to blame a "broken judicial system" for her incarceration. She longs to be a victim and therefore, out of necessity, creates her own villians. I was one of her creations. In reality, I'm an average, run of the mill, never convicted, heterosexual man with four children and a wife. Unlike Cathy's depiction in, "The Run", there were never any homosexual lovers, never any molestations, never any killed pets, never any fires started in houses, never any breakins at any house,  never any cut brake lines, never any scaling of the balcony wall, never any stolen mail and never any calls in the middle of the night. All fantasy from a mind that doesn't have the capacity for truth and a heart so dishonest and evil that it creates whatever lies necessary to assassinate the character of anyone who might stand in it's way. In her effort to keep anyone from discovering her for the criminal she is, she changes identities like a chameleon changes colors. When she was arrested in 2003, the arrest report cites four identities. She is shameless. She lacks any capacity for guilt. She's a charming phony. She serves herself without regard for others, including her own children. She is without conscience. Don't let the smile fool you! Sadly, there is a list of those who did.
